Susan’s Steps # 75 My ALS Journey “A BIRTHDAY PARTY”

You Are Invited…!

imageWe are going to have a birthday party and I want all of you to come!!

One of my favorite things is a party with good food and good friends. But to make it even more exciting and worthwhile, it will be a party to benefit the ALS Association. Those of you who know me, know I was diagnosed with ALS a little over two years ago. It is a fatal disease with no known cause or cure. Personally, I have benefitted greatly from the Association. The ALS Association is the only not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS.

Over the past couple of years I have borrowed from their equipment closet, at no expense, a Go Chair; a raised toilet seat; ramps for getting into my house; a shower chair; and a transfer board. In addition to the physical resources available through the equipment closet Cliff and I have been beneficiaries of the once a month support group meetings as well as being kept current on ALS news breaking research and medical resources. The local ALS Chapter is a phenomenal support for patients and their families. When questions are asked, if they don’t know the answers, they help us find them. This is our opportunity to educate, support and reach even more people with more resources.

This will be a fun evening, I can think of nothing better than having all my friends in the same room and supporting a great and very important cause. If you are not currently a friend, you will be when you come to the party. Who knows you may become my new very best friend, I would like that.

can’t wait! God Bless you all. (If you are in need of a caterer, let Sandy Oglesby know. Katie from Sun Hills Church is awesome).
